Master Your Pre-Round Mental Routine

As a golfer, you understand the significant role that mental state plays in your performance. Today, I'd like to guide you through a series of introspective questions that can help you achieve the perfect mental state for an outstanding game.

Ask yourself these questions before you tee off for your next round.

· What would a great outcome be today?

· How would that feel?

· For that outcome to take place, what state of mind do I need to be in now?

· Have you ever been in that state of mind before?

· What is that state of mind like?

· What does a really good swing feel like?

· What sort of shots does that swing produce?

· How does the putter feel on a great day?

· What do you see on the greens on a day when the ball just keeps finding the hole?

· What does a good shot look like for me?

· When things go wrong or when I get a bad break, what will I do to deal with it?

· How will it feel to having had the mental strength to deal with the bad shots?

· Knowing that I can deal with the worst the day can throw at me, what will it be like to deal with the best the day can throw at me?

· What is it like to have the opportunity to play golf right now at this moment?

· What is the one thing I need to commit to today?

By asking yourself these questions and reflecting on your answers, you can control your mental state, manage your breathing, and harness body control to enhance your performance. Remember, the power of a positive, well-prepared mind in golf cannot be overstated.
