How Tiger Woods makes a swing change
Ever wondered how the pros approach swing changes?
Assessment: They analyze their current swing and ball flight and identify areas for change.
Problem: They understand the problem and clearly define it.
Set Clear Goals: They define specific goals for improvement.
Exaggerate the Change: To rewire muscle memory, they exaggerate the new move or adjustment. (see Tiger’s graphic below)
Practice Diligently: They dedicate regular practice sessions to the new swing, focusing on one aspect at a time.
Video Analysis: They continue recording to track progress and refine their swing.
Patience and Persistence: They are patient; changes take time and persistence.
Mental Game: They stay positive and visualize success.
On-Course Application: They use the new swing during rounds where they have no expectation of a result. If they want to play for a score, they go with whatever swing feels most comfortable.
Feedback Loop: They seek feedback and celebrate progress along the way.
Above is a great example of how Tiger Woods exaggerates a feel to achieve a technical change in his swing.
As always, I'm here to help you take your golf game to the next level.
