Β· Never played

You are not behind. You are unguided.

You've wanted to play for years.

Something always stopped you from starting.

You watched the YouTube videos.

None of it held up with a club in your hands.

You asked friends for tips.

Every one of them told you something different.

The problem was never effort. It was direction. Nobody ever told you what to work on first, or how long it actually takes.

What holds new golfers back

The four things every beginner worries about, answered before you book.

  1. 01

“I've never even held a club”

That is the best place to start. No bad habits to undo. Just clear fundamentals, taught the right way from day one.

  2. 02

    “I'll embarrass myself”

Every session is private and one-on-one inside our indoor studio. No driving range gallery, no group class, nobody grading your swing.

  3. 03

    “I'll waste my money”

Fair concern. Most new golfers are not afraid of the price. They are afraid of paying for lessons that lead nowhere. That is why we start with clarity: you leave knowing exactly what to work on and why.

  4. 04

    “YouTube isn't working”

You have watched the videos and tried the tips, and you still do not know what matters. What you need is a plan built around your body and your swing, not a feed of generic advice.

The honest version

One session is a start. A process is what changes your game.

If you wanted to get in shape, you would not expect one gym workout to change your body. Golf works the same way. One session gives you a diagnosis and a plan. The golfers who actually learn to play are the ones who follow the plan over time.

For most complete beginners that means 10 to 20 sessions before a full round feels enjoyable instead of exhausting. Anyone promising you playable golf in three lessons is selling something. After your first session, Will recommends a path built around your goals and how often you want to play.

No surprises

Exactly what happens in your first 60 minutes.

  1. Minutes 0–10

    We talk about you

Your goals, your experience, what you want from golf. Before touching a club, Will learns what success looks like for you.

  2. Minutes 10–30

    We watch how you move

Never held a club? We start with grip and setup. Played a little? Will uses video and radar to see your real swing and ball flight. You do not need to know anything walking in.

  3. Minutes 30–50

    We find your one priority

Out of everything, the single change that creates the fastest improvement. Not a list of ten things. Just the one that matters most right now.

  4. Minutes 50–60

    You leave with a plan

A simple roadmap: what to work on, how to practise it, what improvement should look like, and how the process continues from here.

What you walk out with

You leave the first session knowing what to do next.

  • The one priority that matters most for your swing right now
  • Grip, setup and contact fundamentals taught in plain English
  • A simple practice plan you can actually follow between sessions
  • An honest picture of how long it takes to play a real round
  • A recommended coaching path built around your goals

Meet your coach

A coach who teaches beginners, not one who talks over your head.

Coach Will Fore, beginner golf coach at ATX Golf Performance in Austin, Texas

Coach Will Fore

Why this matters if you are new: Will teaches beginners the same fundamentals he uses with competitive players, in plain English, without overwhelming you.

β€œThe best part of coaching beginners is showing them that golf is simpler than it looks. Once you understand the cause and effect, the game starts to make sense.”

Will Fore is an Austin golf coach who combines competitive playing experience with a biomechanics background to help beginners build a solid foundation from day one.

After earning All-American honors at McLennan Community College and Oklahoma City University, he majored in biomechanics and spent three years coaching at Jeff Isler Golf in Southlake, Texas. He explains the swing in plain language, so beginners understand why the ball does what it does instead of guessing.

He is also HackMotion and Capto Level 1 & 2 certified, using technology to measure what your hands and putter face are doing, not just what they feel like they are doing. That means beginners leave with clear, measurable feedback from the very first session.

Beginner questions

Everything new golfers ask before booking.

One session is a great start, but golf is a movement skill, not a one-time fix. In your first session we identify your biggest priority and give you a clear plan. The real change comes from following that process over time, just like getting in shape.

You don't need clubs. Balls and clubs are provided. If you already own clubs, bring them so Will can see your real setup. Dress code is casual: comfortable clothes you can move in, and flat athletic shoes or trainers. No collared shirts required, no golf shoes needed. The studio is climate-controlled, so no need to dress for the weather.

No. Golf is one of the very few sports you can genuinely pick up at any age and any fitness level. Will regularly coaches adults in their 40s, 50s, 60s, and beyond, from total beginners to people returning after decades away. What matters is willingness to learn, not athleticism.

For most complete beginners it takes 10 to 20 sessions before a full course feels comfortable. Many feel ready to try 9 holes after several weeks of regular sessions. Like the gym, the players who improve fastest are the ones who show up consistently.

Per hour, yes. Group clinics run around $40 to $60. The catch is that you share the coach with 6 to 10 other people, all working on different things, and you leave with generic advice, not a plan for your swing. One $125 private session builds a foundation that saves you months of wasted range time and prevents habits that cost real money to fix later.

After your first session you'll leave with a clear, specific improvement plan and a path forward. If you don't feel you have complete clarity on exactly what to work on next and how the process continues, the session is completely free. No awkward conversations, no strings attached.

Your first session is a Game Evaluation. We'll talk through your goals, watch you move or start completely from scratch if you've never held a club, and identify your single biggest priority. You'll leave with a clear, personalised roadmap, an action plan, and a path forward for ongoing improvement.

ATX Golf Performance is led by Martin du Toit, who has coached 100's of tournament winners and guided 4 players to national number one ranking, with athletes earning scholarships at Stanford, Duke, and Oklahoma State. Our approach is fully customised using video analysis, radar launch monitors, 3D motion capture, and force plates within a proven coaching system. Working alongside him is Coach Will Fore, an All-American with a biomechanics degree who specializes in new and developing golfers.

Most beginners notice a real difference after a few sessions. Instead of practising random things, you're working on the one change that makes the biggest difference. Direction beats volume every time, and the biggest gains come from following the process consistently.

Yes. Our studio is fully indoor and climate-controlled, so sessions run year-round regardless of 100-degree afternoons or storms. You also don't need a tee time to work on your game.

One hour. A clear path.

You are 60 minutes away from finally knowing where to start.

Book your Game Evaluation with Coach Will. Walk out knowing your one priority, what to practise, and how the process continues. Leave with a clear plan or your session is free!
